Kyoto is one of my favorite places in Japan.

I really like the atmosphere of the place.

It was late spring when I visited Kyoto last time.

I walked along the Kamo River.

It was sunny and there was a gentle breeze.

Cherry blossoms were falling like snow onto the water.

I visited Kamigamo-jinja

which is said to be the oldest shrine in Kyoto.

In the shrine was a huge shidarezakura (drooping cherry tree)

in full bloom. It looked like a big pink ball¡ª

Amazingly beautiful.¡ù

After visiting the shrine I went to Nomidoraku

which is a small Japanese restaurant in Gion.

I'm kind of a regular customer there. (actually second time ¡ú)

The food there was just great! And it's reasonable, too.

Wherever you go,

you can always find something beautiful

and something delicious in Kyoto.

Sumo is national sport of Japan.

The wrestlers, wearing only broad belts,

fight in a raised ring made of clay.

The rules are simple.

They lose the match if they are forced outside the ring,

or if any part of their body except the soles of their feet

touches the ground.

In Tokyo, tournaments are held at the Kokugikan.
